Singaporeans have been increasingly heading to the great outdoors to hike, cycle, swim and more to get past the dreariness of pandemic restrictions. Now, you can amp up the adrenaline at Singapore's first and only all-terrain vehicle (ATV) trail riding facility. Young or old, first-timer or no, hop on an ATV and get the best outdoor, off-road experience you can in Singapore. Mud Krank offers customised trails around its farm in Kranji, promising a thrilling – and most likely, muddy – good time. A sedate practice run around the farm is included in the $35 session price ($15 for kids).

Giant Swing

Bring your friends along for this one. The Giant Swing ($49) by AJ Hackett takes up to three people at once, straps them in face down, before dropping them from a height of 40 metres. While you’re swinging out to the horizon, you and your friends may find the composure to enjoy that amazing view of Siloso Beach. Or maybe not. It’s okay though – AJ Hackett has 16 HD cameras at the ready to capture every second of your experience.

Virtual Reality Gaming

At HeadRock VR, Singapore's first virtual reality theme park, you can do the unimaginable. Think escaping from a T-Rex in a jungle raft, scaling a skyscraper while battling enemy robots, jumping into boiling magma and fighting the zombie apocalypse. This is all happening through a VR headset of course, but the effects are so real that you'll feel yourself sweat from the thrill anyway. Check out their different game zones and choose your desired package – prices start at $35.

Indoor Sky Diving

Indoor Sky Diving

Experience true free fall at iFly Singapore, the city’s one and only indoor sky diving facility. A huge wind tunnel helps to replicate the experience of falling through the air from 12,000 to 3,000 feet. The experience can’t quite match up to outdoor sky diving, but at $119 for two dives, we say it’s a brilliant deal. It’s also a perfect environment for those who want to take it up as a sport – pro-flyers can safely train their intermediate and advanced flying and formation skills.

Ziplining

Zip through Sentosa’s jungle canopy with the MegaZip ($55). It’s a much faster – and thrilling – way to get from the top of Imbiah Hill down to Siloso Beach. If that’s not enough excitement for you, you can combine the zipline experience with the Climb and Jump, a treetop adventure course that will take you through 36 obstacles at five to 15 metres of elevation. The zip, climb and jump are suitable for all ages, making this a great option for families.

Wakeboarding

Wakeboarding

Getting dragged through the water by a boat is a lot more fun than it sounds – at least if you’re standing on a wakeboard. Being an island nation, Singapore has its fair share of options, including Ryders ($130/hour) and Edge Wakeboarding ($140) where skilled instructors will take you out on the open sea for an all-in-one sports lesson and boat party. If you want a relatively controlled environment, opt for the Singapore Wake Park ($50) – beginners can start out on the System A straight-line cables while the pros show off their obstacle tricks on the intermediate tracks.

  • Sentosa

We've got sand, sun and sea – but one thing we need? Big waves. Never fear though, This attraction brings simulated surfing to our waveless shores. Seasoned surfers can grab their boards and have a go at the FlowBarrel (and its simulated loft wave), while newbies can attempt to find their feet on the FlowRider. For others who would rather stay out of the surf, there is a pool and two beach bars to keep you occupied.

If it's an adrenaline rush you're looking for, then you can't go wrong with a day out at Universal Studios Singapore. Leave the kiddy rides for later and head for the big boys: get thrown into the air on a rollercoaster at Battlestar Galactica, whirl down a powerful water current at Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure, enter a spooky world of mummies and mazes at the indoor rollercoaster Revenge of the Mummy, or get your fix at other thrilling rides like Canopy Flyer and Transformers: The Ride.
