No other series has made an impact on fans quite like Star Wars. Every year, fans around the world get kitted out in their best Stormtrooper suit or Jedi robe (depending on which side of the Force they belong to) for Star Wars Day, which falls on May the 4th – a clever wordplay on the iconic phrase "may the force be with you".

A celebration of George Lucas' mega sci-fi franchise, the day is usually loaded with themed events across the city, from outdoor movie screenings to a lightsaber dueling showcase. But with the current restrictions, things are a little different this year. While jetting off to a galaxy far, far away in your Millenium Falcon is off the cards, for now, we've listed some alternative ways to celebrate a socially distanced Star Wars Day.

Catch the Garrison at Marina Bay Sands

It’s not everyday you get to see the 501st Singapore Garrison in action alongside other Star Wars fan groups at Marina Bay Sands. The Garrison will be patrolling around the area on the weekends of May, between 1pm to 6.30pm on May 8, 16, and 22. Here’s your chance to snap a socially distanced picture with stormtroopers and other iconic characters from Star Wars. More deets are available on the 501st Singapore Garrison’s Facebook page.

Star Wars and Lego? We’re sold. Head to the Tampines outlet for a Lego Art wall with a Star Wars-themed mosaic. The Lego Art series is designed for adults who have a keen interest in pop culture (and Lego, of course). If it’s a new Lego Star Wars set you’re after, cop the new R2-D2 75308 2,315-piece set ($299), an updated version of everyone’s favourite droid, complete retractable mid-leg, rotating head, and extendable front hatches to extend contact tools.

Besides limited edition Star Wars builds, Older Lego fans will also love this store as it has the city’s first dedicated Adults Corner where pro builders can assemble more complicated sets.

Watch The Bad Batch on Disney+

So you’ve seen the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars, now get ready for a follow-up on the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy after the events of the Clone War. For the uninitiated, the Bad Batch is a unique squad of clones who are genetically different from those in the Clone Army where each has a singular exceptional skill that makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

Binge-watch more Star Wars

If that’s not enough, Disney+ has everything from the one that started it all in 1977 (Star Wars: A New Hope) to one that got people talking in 2019 (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), as well as punchy standalone action tales like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Solo: A Star Wars Story – all in eye-melting 4K with Dolby Atmos audio. There’s also the unmissable series that had everyone going goo-goo-ga-ga over Baby Yoda: The Mandalorian.
