Observing the way water falls from the highest of heights, and cascade over rocks could easily bring a wave of calmness, even to those among us who are the most stressed. While Singapore lacks natural waterfalls, it makes up with man-made beauties including the world’s tallest indoor waterfall: the Rain Vortex at Jewel Changi Airport. And since jetting off to a country with natural, awe-inspiring torrents like Canada for Niagara Falls and Vietnam for Ban Gioc is off the cards, for now, admiring the tall trickles and sculptural masterpieces here is just as good.

  • Things to do
  • Marina Bay

A Singapore icon, the majestic Gardens by the Bay is a sight to behold. Surrounded by exotic foliage, it's home to various outdoor and indoor gardens, as well as an impressive 35-metre-tall waterfall. A mountain densely covered with vegetation, Cloud Forest’s breathtaking beauty draws your attention to its focal point: its silvery torrents. There are plenty of vantage points for you to admire the vertiginous cascade from different angles. Then descend through the mist-filled Cloud Walk and Treetop Walk before moving on to the next garden.

We're mighty proud of our very own UNESCO World Heritage site. Established in 1852, the Gardens make a tranquil, flowery respite from the city buzz with over 10,000 species of plants calling it home. The first sight you'll see upon entering the Tyersall gate is a small cascade surrounded by thick foliage. There’s also a hidden cave behind it where you can walk through and see the other side of the waterfall. Located by the Ginger Garden, which is filled with vibrant blooms, it’s highly popular among shutterbugs, as well as couples for that picturesque wedding photoshoot.

Towering at a height of 35-metres in the heart of Jurong Bird Park, the Waterfall Aviary is one of the world's tallest artificial waterfalls. Here, water freely falls from the top of a cliff before being recirculated through the stream that flows down. The spot is also landscaped to mirror a tropical forest, so as to provide a suitable habitat for the birds, fishes and plants that call it home. Cross the suspended bridge for a panoramic view of the Waterfall Aviary, then continue to the Hut to witness the more reticent birds in action.

  • Sentosa

The perfect getaway for thrill-seekers, USS prides itself for having the world’s tallest dueling roller coasters, an indoor thrill ride, a 3D Transformers experience, and a soaking white water rafting that ends in a hair-raising drop. And speaking of water, you can easily spot its mini waterfalls across several parks including Ancient Egypt, Jurassic Park and Madagascar – best done on a ride.

Besides over 280 dining and retail options housed under one majestic dome, Jewel Changi Airport is also home to HSBC Rain Vortex, the largest indoor waterfall in the world. You can say that it’s the crown jewel of, well, Jewel Changi Airport. The 40-metre-tall beauty takes centre stage with a futuristic design, in which the shower starts from the edge of the circular opening in the centre of the mounding glass-roof and ends at the plunge pool in the basement – that’s 10 storeys worth! The first half of the waterfall is also surrounded by a four-storey terraced tropical forest.

For a panoramic view, make your way up the 50-metre Canopy Bridge that suspends 23-metres above ground. It features glass panel flooring where you can look down into the first level and the mighty cascade in all its glistening glory. It gets even more magical come nightfall when the light and sound show comes on.
