One of Bangkok’s oldest shopping malls, Siam Discovery has undergone a total transformation. For one, the mall feels curated, much like a magazine edit. Each floor, which is referred to as a ‘lab’, has a unique theme and design, featuring a thoughtful selection of brands and products that feels fresh. Plus, the shopping experience is made more exciting with the many bespoke services available.

On the ground level, you’ll find the ladies’ department and also the largest Comme des Garçons flagship store in Thailand. Aside from the usual designer labels such as Acne Studios, Yohji Yamamoto and Opening Ceremony, the real highlights are the Japanese labels and streetwear brands the likes of Facetasm, Beautiful People and Dressedundressed. It’s Siam Discovery’s intention to bring in some of the best collections from Tokyo Fashion Week.

The men’s floor is the star of the mall – not least because of the beautiful, Instagram-worthy tiles. There’s a gentlemen’s barber, plus the Pur-suit section where you’ll find formal and semi-formal wear with brands like Mister Painkiller, as well as Jirawat handmade leather goods, premium pomade and a bar. Service is king – if you’re here to get a suit tailor-made, you’ll be served single-malt whisky while you have your measurements taken.

The Street Lab, located on the first level, is where you’ll find streetwear, sports brands and Japanese selvedge denim. We particularly like the Cazh corner where you can design your own pair of leather sneakers and jeans (everything from the denim to the rivets and cuts). For quirky items, head to the Digital Lab for Loft’s offering of weird and wonderful Japanese products, including a toothbrush that you can use without toothpaste. There’s also a floor dedicated to home and living, and another specialising in pop culture, featuring Tokyo Bikes, comic collectibles (Stormtrooper masks!), and indie magazines like Cereal and Kinfolk

Did we mention Siam Discovery will also be home to the world’s first Billboard Café? Yes, the popular music publication from the States will have a café in the mall, designed for music lovers.

Rama I Rd, Pathum Wan, Bangkok (+66 2658 1000, www.siamdiscovery.co.th). Daily 10am-10pm.
