Located by the Hawkesbury River, the Butterfly Farm Activities Resort is a rare phenomenon: a low cost family outing. Kids love insects for some unfathomable reason and the farm's main attraction is a collection moths, beetles, spiders, scorpions and insects from South East Asia.
Should the littl'uns get bored, there are other activities too, such as the Indy 800 Kart Track, water skiing and picnicking. Ski and picnic areas are linked to the Museum, so the free entry allows you to access these areas as well. The BBQ area can host up to 500 people, and kiosks offer food and drink.
For those who wish to water ski, lessons are available by appointment, and the Resort has ski beaches with ramps and tractor launching. If that's a bit full-on, there are pools for both children and adults, at a different fee.
The Indy 800 Kart Track is one of the longest in Sydney, and group bookings get discounts. Individual or double kart hire is priced according to time spent on the track.
