Time Out says

Anything goes in this totally spontaneous, totally improvised, totally random musical – directed by kids!

The award-winning theatre company for young people, Monkey Baa Theatre Company, has curated another weird and wonderful program of performances for the school holidays. They’re showing an adventurous puppet show called The Little Prince, followed by Random Musical, created by theatre company Cre8ion.

Random Musical has a cast of three improvisation artists who play to the imaginations of those in the audience, who write down their name and favourite word. Emcee Scott Brennan then uses those words to create a brand-new musical and – ta-da! – today’s performance is underway.

The random words inspire every twist and turn of the show, propelling the actors Rick Brown and Emily Taylor into uncharted spontaneous storytelling and song.

The show is suitable for ages five and up, and if you’re in the audience you may just find yourself playing one of the characters, sound effects or objects. Anything is possible. And the best thing is that it’s a different show every time.

Tickets for a family of four costs $104; tickets for a family of five costs $125; individual tickets for children and adults are $29.

The venue is fully accessible and a relaxed performance is available for children with additional needs. Tickets for the relaxed performance are $17 and the theatre environment is informal (lights on, doors open, entry/exit at any time).
