If you’ve got a young scientist at home, then you’ll want to mark your calendars for the return of Sydney’s top outdoor science event, Science in the Scrub. This free family fun day out is returning to Western Sydney Parklands during National Science Week with a thrilling program of shows, experiments, animal encounters and a life-size dinosaur.
Lizard Log will transform into an outdoor science lab on Sunday, August 13 from 11am to 3pm with more than 30 inspiring stalls and activity stations. Kids can learn to love creepy crawlies at the live bug display; get close to native animals at the Australian wildlife display; and interact with sea life at a pop-up ocean lab.
The bravest of the brave can catch a snake show by John’s Reptile Awareness with advice for staying safe around venomous snakes. Meanwhile, inquisitive young minds can explore the ecology of soil microorganisms and blue-banded bees through music and song at the Amelie Ecology Bee Song Show. Science and artificial intelligence will also come together to spark young imaginations with an interactive Ask A.I. Show.
Embrace your time outdoors by settling on the expansive lawns for a picnic and enjoying delicious bites from the pop-up food trucks. Don’t miss Ginger, the incredible life-sized dinosaur, who will be paying a visit to Lizard Log.
