In an industry obsessed with youth, where artists can become household names whilst still in their teens, it’s something of an anomaly to learn that Gold Coast’s Amy Shark didn’t start creating music until she was 28 years old. That doesn’t mean her rise to fame has been any less stratospheric though. Less than three years after uploading her first track to YouTube, she’d nabbed second place in the Triple J Hottest 100 with ‘Adore,’ and last year saw her debut album, Love Monster, hit the top of the ARIA charts. This gig at the Hordern Pavilion is Shark’s biggest headlining show in Sydney by quite some distance and if her career trajectory thus far is anything to go by, you’ll want to catch her now before she starts selling out stadiums.
