Pepito’s is hosting an hour of banging live tunes every fortnight

And yes, it’s going to get rowdy

In Latin American culture, Hora Loca – which translates to ‘the crazy hour’ – is a mini-party within a party. It normally strikes at a wedding or large function when energy levels drop, and is used as a way to get the good vibes flowing again. There’s often drums, confetti, loud sirens and flashing lights – when Hora Loca hits, it’s a surefire sign that the party’s about to kick into a new gear.

At Pepito’s, a Peruvian taberna in Marrickville, Hora Loca comes in the form of an hour of live Latino punk-rock covers courtesy of local band the Dead Riders. This insanely fun excuse to let loose takes place every second Wednesday night at 9pm starting on August 10, and it’s a wild celebration of all the best things in life: good food, great drinks and epic tunes.

The Dead Riders are a rock’n’roll trio who have reworked a bunch of sing-a-long classics to give them a Spanish punk twist. The sets are loud and energetic, and it’s near-impossible to go the entire hour without getting up and having a boogie.

To fuel you for this hour of power, Pepito’s have some fab food and drink specials on offer. Grab a beer from local legends Philter Brewing or try a Chilcano – a classic Peruvian cocktail with pisco, lime and ginger ale. And be sure to order a sanguche, which is another Latino speciality. Go the crispy fish or pork belly, and we promise you will not be disappointed.

Hora Loca at Pepito’s is a dinner and show, but not as you know it. Bookings are recommended, but walk-ins are also welcome. For further information, head to the website.
