Run away to the country, start a tiny commune, finally write that novel you’ve dreamed about… The possibilities for your new tiny home are boundless. But first you have to get your hands on it.
Luckily there are two chances to make this baby (or a very similar one) yours at a fundraising auction in Marrickville. The Bower are holding their annual fundraiser at their shopfront in Addison Road Community Centre – and everyone’s welcome to join the party, bid for things, or simply show up and eat the snacks served up by Oz Harvest’s Food Truck.
Tickets are $40 to attend, which goes towards the Bower’s work to reduce the amount of stuff going to landfill, and you’ll get to throw your hat in the ring to become a new parent to one fully-insulated, secure and waterproof tiny home.
The two tiny houses on offer were created from items donated to the Bower over the last year. Both homes come complete with a three-tonne trailer, ready to be hooked up to your vehicle and towed away.
Not ready for such a big commitment? You can still buy a ticket and bid on less ambitious one-of-a-kind items for sale, like retro furniture items, Australiana kitchenware, a grandfather clock, and a row of antique seats that once belonged to Sydney Theatre Company.
Bidding will start at $5 for the smaller items and the whole thing will be run by professionals – auctioneers Raffan Kelaher and Thomas have donated their time to the cause. Plus, there’ll be beer for sale from Batch Brewing Co, a helpful way to loosen the wallet and finally take that leap of faith into the Sydney property market. Good luck!
