Until humans manage to achieve actual flight using our bodies, this is as good as it gets. With nothing but a delicate sail, a harness and howling gusts, you jump off the edge of an escarpment – the most nerve-wracking part of the half-hour experience – and, with an instructor strapped atop you, get a nifty bird’s-eye view of the landscape below. It’s both freeing and frightening at once. Our pro tip: just keep pretending there’s a net underneath and enjoy the ride!
