Time Out says

This heartwarming play from New Zealand is having its Australian premiere

What do you do when you find a chicken in your beloved veggie patch? If you’re Mama, you reach for the spade and start warming up the casserole pot. You’re certainly don’t become friends with it. DF Mamea’s heartwarming one-woman play picked up New Zealand’s top gong for playwriting in 2017 and was awarded Outstanding New NZ Play at last year’s Wellington Theatre Awards, and now it makes its only Australian stop at Riverside Theatres.

Starring New Zealand-Samoan actress Goretti Chadwick, it tells the story of the unlikely friendship between the lonely Mama, whose own children flew the coop years ago, and a homeless chicken (brought to life by puppeteer Haanz Fa’avae-Jackson) who invades Mama’s garden and makes itself at home – and teaches Mama a few things about death, life, loss and love along the way.
