Time Out says

Sydney's premier Shakespeareans, Sport for Jove, remount their acclaimed production of the Bard's controversial rom-com

Less frequently performed than other works in Shakespeare's canon, The Taming of the Shrew has 400 years of controversy under its belt, as audiences, critics and scholars have continued to debate its gender politics.

But in this production, set on the sound stage in silent film-era Hollywood, director Damien Ryan upholds his view that Shakespeare intended us to be disturbed by the gendered power structures of Elizabethan England, and disturbed by that society's attitude towards marriage and independent women.

This production, which debuted as part of Sport for Jove's 2011/2012 season, stars many of the original cast, including James Lugton, Danielle King and Lizzie Schebesta.
