If you type the name ‘Marni Nixon’ into Google you’ll be sure to find a resume rivalling those of Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Julie Andrews. Yet the chances are you’ve never heard her name before.

But even if you haven’t heard her name, you’ve surely heard her voice. Her voice has been in films like The King and I, My Fair LadyThe Sound of MusicMary Poppins, and West Side Story. Her voice has filled the ears of movie-goers for generations, and for so long it has gone uncredited.

Now, following its sell-out performances at the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, The Voice Behind the Stars: The Marni Nixon Story will unravel the tale of Nixon’s lifetime of uncredited work as one of the most prolific Hollywood ghost singers. Dubbed ‘the best film diva you (almost) never saw’, Nixon is one of the best-kept secrets in film, having sung in the stead of all the actresses mentioned above and more.

The show was written, and is starred by Sydney-born actress, Eliza Jackson, and this is the first time it will be performed in Australia. Tickets are $40 for full fare, and $35 for concession, or groups of six or more people.
