Those who dabble in photography – whether it be on a DSLR camera or via an Instagram filter – know that lighting is an essential element, and a lack or overabundance thereof can kill a killer shot. So naturally, snapping a sneaky pic of the night sky is no small feat.
In this Nikon School course, you can learn how to perfectly immortalise the nightscapes through a lens. Keen astrophotographer Steven Morris will be teaching you how to focus manually on the stars, expose those shining beauties at the right level, shoot panoramic nightscapes, choose the correct lens for the job and read the tonal values of images on your histogram.
If any of this isn’t making sense so far, it’s probably because this course is aimed at budding photographers who already have a basic grasp of their digital SLR camera (which you’ll need to bring along, fully charged, along with wide-angle lenses and a tripod).
The city’s light pollution doesn’t make for the clearest stargazing, so you’ll be exploring the worlds of white balance and camera noise at Wentworth Falls, just outside Katoomba, for this three-hour course. Don’t forget your jackets.
