Time Out says

Frock up for a night of pure elegance in honour of administrative professionals from across the country

They’re the unsung heroes behind businesses both big and small; the ones who manage reception operations, organise the office, enhance the productivity of executives, contribue to strategic business decisions and go above and beyond to provide support at all times. We’re referring, of course, to the many administrative professionals – the receptionists, office managers, admin assistants, personal assistants and executive business partners – that often go without receiving the recognition they deserve.

Which is exactly why the Australian Admin Awards were formed. The inaugural ceremony will bring together industry leaders to formally acknowledge the people behind all administrative functions, day-to-day wins and company milestones. It will shine a light on their achievements, and also help advocate for a more robust representation and appreciation within the professional community.

The first-ever event will be held on January 18 in the Linseed Room at the Grounds of Alexandria. There are nine different award categories, including First Impressions Director (which recognises the work of receptionists), Manager of Co-Dependence (in honour of personal assistants) and the People’s Champion Award (applicable to anyone in the administrative space, and determined by a public vote). All awards are based on skill and achievement, and speak to the performance that isn’t always outlined in a job description.

The evening will be hosted by Luke Cooke (founder of the Cuppa of Life virtual café), and there’s expected to be more than 300 people in attendance, including award finalists, the judging panel and professionals from right across the country. Major sponsors for the event have been confirmed as Qantas, Sephora, Marriott International, Women’s Agenda and Cuppa of Life.

The glittering event will also serve as an opportunity to slip out of normal workwear and into something a bit fancier. The official dress code is ball gowns and white tuxedos, which seems suitably on theme as there’s also going to be a red carpet, string quartet, three-course meal and even a Champagne tower. It’s shaping up to be an unforgettable night of networking, celebration and, most importantly, paying tribute to the hardworking admin staff who have demonstrated excellence in their field.
