Inner West Council is throwing a special shout out to the vibrant community, families and business owners of South King Street with this four-day celebration. Inviting Sydneysiders to rediscover this eclectic part of Newtown, Celebrate South King Street will showcase all the shops, oddities and fun from the commercial strip and culminate in a family-friendly event on Sunday 20 June at Peace Park.
Over the four days you can browse from South King Street's offerings with special happenings and activities popping up along the strip. Warm up your musical chops with a singer/songwriter workshop at Moshpit Bar, marvel at an alternative movie poster display in Escape Hair, go on a vegan meat tasting adventure at the popular Suzy Spoon's Vegetarian Butcher and leave with a discounted flash tattoo from Skin Deep. There's more to explore over the four-day celebration, so keep your eyes peeled on the program as it evolves.
On Sunday June 20 bring the young people in your life along to Peace Park on the corner of King and Alice St. There'll be family fun galore including free circus workshops and performances and live music sets from local musos in the arvo.
