Time Out says

This international Tetris comp has made its way to Newtown

If you lost days of your youth trying to build the perfect coloured virtual wall in Tetris, this competition will be your jam. The Australian version of the Classic Tetris World Championships gives old-school gamers the chance to show off their moves at Newtown’s buzzing retro game themed bar, 1989 Arcade Bar and Kitchen.

It’s sure to be a thrilling spectator sport, but if you want to compete, entry is $15 and includes a beer or glass of wine to stoke your Tetris berserker as you battle on the Nintendo Entertainment System Tetris

How will it work? Entrants will face individual opponents to see who scores highest in best-of-three rounds. The winner will move onto the next worthy adversary and so it goes until a champion is crowned.
