Time Out says

The final week of NAS NEO is here, and the epic line-up features Florian and Rainbow Chan

In case you were wondering, NAS NEO is a weekly after-hours program that takes place every Thursday at the National Art School. It brings together critical and progressive arts practices across inclusive and diverse platforms, and encourages collaboration with the next generation of change-makers, innovators and creators.

And this week on June 30 is the final session, which calls for one helluva party. Registration is essential, and the action kicks off at 6pm with an industry shmooze sesh and short film showing. NAS NEO has partnered with the indie film team from Freshflix, so expect to see plenty of executives from the funding agencies, streamers, broadcasters and production companies. You’ll get to take part in a 60-minute Gatekeeper Campfire workshop – where you can find out what it takes to get your projects made and seen by the right people – before a 45-minute screening of some fab comedy, thriller and horror short flicks.

Following on from that, Fijian/Australian pop star Florian will hit the stage to show off her vocal chops and catchy hooks. Since bursting onto the music scene in 2017, she has quickly gained the respect of her peers and become a regular on Triple J. In 2018 her first single even landed her a spot as a finalist in the Vanda and Young Global Songwriting Competition.

Rainbow Chan – a vocalist, producer and multidisciplinary artist – will perform after Florian for a glorious 45-minute set. Having built a reputation as one of the most innovative musicians in the country, Chan melds catchy melodies and off-kilter beats made up of field recordings and found sounds. Not only has Chan performed at the Sydney Opera House, Vivid and MONA FOMA, but her multi-arts installations have also been exhibited in many leading galleries. Talk about talented.

And to top it off, there will even be two drop-in workshops taking place from 6.30pm to 8.30pm: drawing with Aude Parichot and collage with Amber Bolton. These events are free and open to everyone of all levels of experience.
