Calling all carnivores, can we ask you a stupid question: do you like bacon? That most beloved of breakfast staples is set to star in a pop-up fundraiser for the bushfire relief efforts, presented by deli meats manufacture Primo, on January 17 and 18.
An all-day breakfast-in-bed café (yes, you’ll be able to eat from your very own bed, complete with pillows and doona) is coming to the Studio in Rosebery, where those who love to dine on swine will be happier than a pig in clover.
Bacon in all its wondrous forms will be on offer. Classic bacon and eggs; the American delight of maple bacon waffles; a trip south of the border with bacon weaved tacos; and for those with more refined tastes, up-market scotch eggs with bacon jam: the menu features an all but exhaustive list of dishes where bacon is the hero.
And for those who truly wish to worship before the alter of hog heaven, there are even more committed ways to satisfy your bacon cravings, with bacon essential oil massages, bacon facials and even bacon meditation (whatever that is).
Your $20 ticket not only gains you entrance plus your choice of bacon dish, it also gets you your very own pair of bacon pyjamas – that is to say, pyjamas with pictures of bacon printed on them, not actual jammies made of bacon, although we wouldn’t put it past this event to give that fashion challenge a red hot go.
Diners are welcome from 7am until 8.30pm on January 17 and from 7am until 6pm on January 18, so no matter if you’re an early bird or a lay-in legend, you can still enjoy the bacon brekkie of your heart’s desire. And the best part? 100 per cent of the proceeds will be donated to Foodbank Australia to help the victims of Australia's ongoing bushfire emergency.
