If you’re still on the hunt for a good excuse to get litty in the city this queen’s birthday long weekend, the Soulstice Laneway Festival is the shindig you’ve been searching for. Esteban Restaurant at 1 Temperance Lane will be going off with two days of disco and funk DJs, Margaritas, a pop-up Patron filling station and Latin-inspired bites, from June 13-14.
Revelers can dance the day away and on into the night, from 2-10pm, in Esteban’s private courtyard just off George Street. A line-up of Sydney’s best soul, funk and disco talent will be spinning back-to-back bangers from an elevated hanging garden stage, headlined by hometown hero DJ Mo’Funk, best known as the beat master of Ibiza’s most infamous party spots, Pacha, Café Del Mar, Café Mambo and Space. On Monday night, DJ collective Rotary Disco will be getting the party going with a down ’n’ dirty set of underground sounds.
Making sure the crowd is properly fuelled up for this epic doof, Esteban’s kitchens will be turning out a range of delicious eats from south of the border, including spinach and queso quesadillas, Mexican pork sausage sangers and loaded Mexican fries. Tequila fans can wash down their feed with a selection of Patron cocktails, or else head down to Esteban’s tequila and mezcal basement bar for a Patron flight.
The festivities are part of the mammoth Sydney Solstice, the city’s grand celebration of all things nightlife taking place across town until June 21. Tickets for the Soulstice Laneway Festival are $40 per day and grant you access to the main dancefloor from 2-10pm. All food and beverage orders cost extra and entry is limited to punters 18-years and over.
