Inspired by recipes from 1886 The Woman Suffrage Cookbook, this quirky Sufffragette Dinner is perfect for the foodies amongst us. Suffrage was hard won, and it's hard to believe they did it on lettuce soup – sorry make that ‘lettuce make room to speak up’ soup.
On Saturday March 7, Song Kitchen will put on a vintage smorgasboard of classic, cleverly-named dishes in their stylish inner-city space at the tail end of Hyde Park. From Mrs Urbino’s ‘buttered carrots of the sisterhood’ to Mrs. Buckley’s ‘pudding women first’, there’s something here for all kinds of feminist palate. Bonus: they’re a profit-for-purpose business whose profits go towards supporting domestic violence programs at YWCA Australia, and funding services for women and girls in Australia.
Tickets are $75 for three historically accurate courses at this culinary experience.
