Time Out says

The City of Sydney is bringing the party to streets across Sydney to celebrate and support small business

Given that the summer of 2022 hasn't exactly panned out the way we had hoped, with indoor events feeling like a roll of the dice, it's nice to know that there are plenty of Covid-safe events to keep our spirits high.

The City of Sydney is putting on a whole bunch of street festivals to help support small businesses and give locals a little something to look forward to. Every weekend of summer, the appropriately named Sydney Streets fairs will be turning some of our favourites, from Glebe to Surry Hills and beyond, into pedestrian-only celebrations of food, drinks, music and shopping for one day only.

Summer Streets on Crown Street kicks off on Sunday February 6 from 11am-9pm between Cleveland Street and Foveaux Street. Groove the afternoon away with tunes from the Glorious Sousaphonics, the Sax Summit and Dynasty Showband. Have a laugh with the queens from Sydney Drag Royalty and the Devonshire Divas and after the sun sets, be enchanted by fire performers and LED dancers. You can also grab some free drinks at Surry Hills Fine Wines, who will be giving out tasters from local legends Brix Distillery and masterclasses in sake and whiskey. Have a bite at Bad Mama, where Taiwan meets Japan by way of an ecclectic and adventurous pan-Asian menu.

Summer Streets on Glebe Point Road will see you bopping and jiving to the Kate Wadey Trio, the Oompah Loompah Band, the Pre-Loved and roving African drummers. First Nations group Yulugi Keyna Wilkins Ensemble will also be playing. Bringing the littlies? Kids will love the Australian native bug performers and fire twirlers. The street will be closed to traffic on Saturday February 12 from 11am-10pm.

Summer Streets on Harris Street on Saturday February 19 will be a day of native bird performances and music by local acts the Kate Wadey Trio, the Yulugi Ensemble, Daniel Francis Band, George Washingmachine and Crawfish Po'Boys. There will be plenty of food stalls and restaurants slinging snacks all day to keep you fueled. The festival stretches from Pyrmont Bridge Road to Union Street from 11am-10pm.

All events are absolutely free to attend and will be following Covid-safe protocols. Head to the City of Sydney website for the full line up.
