This cozy bar’s casual setting and inviting vibe easily tempts the post-work crowd to get “just one drink” before going home. A cocktail menu, which revolves around drinks that are inspired by retro tunes, is available for those whose preferences go beyond a G&T.
Behind a suede curtain at the lobby of boutique hotel Playhaus Thonglor is this crowd-favorite cocktail bar. The brainchild of six of Bangkok’s best bartenders, including Diageo World Class Thailand winners Ronnaporn “Neung” Kanivichaporn (2014 and 2017) and Supawit “Palm” Muttarattana (2012), Backstage Cocktail Bar plays with the theater theme, and is festooned with décor inspired by four famous stage plays including Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and the Rattanakosin-era epic Four Reigns. The cocktails, however, revolve around playful interpretations of popular movies such as Fifty First Dates and There’s Something About Mary, and James Bond flicks. The savvy mixologists can create bespoke drinks made to your preference or mix you one of their experimental specials. Parom Leo Malakul, the rising-star bartender of Backstage Cocktail Bar and the Thai brand ambassador of Copper Dog, will be slinging special cocktails showcasing the complex flavors of the blended malt on 6 June (23:30- 02:00).
We don’t have to tell you what theme this quirky hang-out is sailing on. A bar counter, set against a large painting depicting an underwater scene, serves up whiskey on the rocks and whiskey-injected cocktails.

The place itself is equally photogenic, displaying a well-polished, purple-lit space with a marble-topped bar and plush leather stools. Taking the prime spot at 72 Courtyard is modern izakaya Lucky Fish. The eatery-slash-bar features a room decorated with minuscule turquoise mosaics, blue French doors and giant paper lanterns. Illuminated shelves are filled with rare sake bottles, evoking the atmosphere of a casual Japanese bar.
The atmosphere at Toro, a tapas bar at popular nightlife complex 72 Courtyard blends the stylish modernity of New York and the vibrant fun of Boston (where the restaurant is originally from) with the tastes of Spain. The small plates served in the Bangkok outpost have a touch of local flavor and go well with one of their famous gin-based cocktails.
