Art meets brunch at Chim Chim, with artistic breakfasts served in an equally artistic setting. Located on the ground floor of Siam Design Hotel, their Hangover Brekkie (B425) does exactly what it says on the tin – dishing up a big plate of two eggs, bacon, pancakes, grilled tomato, mixed mushrooms, hashbrown, sourdough toast and choice of sausage from Sloane – A farm-permaculture butchery run by Joe Sloane, a former Michelin-starred restaurant chef. Besides dining, this restaurant also has an art wall showcasing Thai-inspired paintings exhibition called Souvenirs by Munchausen, a Parisian designer couple named Simon Pillard and Philippe Rossetti. Just a few minutes walk from BTS National Stadium, there’s no better reason than to miss your Siam commute interchange.

Using coffee beans from Roots, a roaster known for producing coffee beans from the Chiang Rai farm community, their hot cosmo blend espresso (B90) evokes daydreams of tropical forests with beans from Guatemala, Laos and Ethiopia. But what really stands out is the steak breakfast – a generous slice of ribeye steak and signature scrambled eggs (B495) served with Thai jeaw sauce (chilli dipping sauce) – you might call it a west-meet-east breakfast bonanza. Located near MRT Sukhumvit Station, their second floor also offers some surprisingly green views. Pets are also welcome.

Started with a hotel breakfast at K Maison Boutique Hotel, this restaurant has expanded its branches to Central Embassy, Sukhumvit Soi 49 and Sathorn Road.  Start your day at Sukhumvit branch, with its wide open spaces and 200-year Italian olive tree. When it comes to the breakfast menu, we say go big and order the best-selling breakfast board (homemade bacon, eggs, smoked salmon, avocado, sourdough, salad and yoghurt, B390) so you can fill your stomach with any mix you can create from them. Four-legged friends can also join you at the Sukhumvit and Sathorn branch, making it a perfect detour during your morning walkies.

Congee is a breakfast classic in Thailand. Their warm congee (B40) is served with a range of protein fillers including pork meatballs, intestines, stomach, kidney, soft-boiled or century eggs.  They also have patongo (B20), a deep-fried Chinese doughnut that is lovingly dipped into condensed milk.  After over 70 years of running this congee business on Bang Rak, its third-generation owner still attracts people with the signature Guang Dong-style congee with its unique smoked aroma. Visit there before 8am if you want to try many add-ons in one bowl.

Even for Yaowarat, this breakfast spot is old. Serving dim sum and toast for 105 years, they know what they're doing. Elevated from a local retro coffeehouse, the fourth-generation owner transforms its setting into 80s Cantonese films. Try an all-day western breakfast for B65 or eat Chinese-style with the dim sum (starting from B30). Don’t forget to taste toast bread with coconut egg custard (B60), a recipe that’s been in the family since 1919. Six-minute walk from MRT Wat Mangkorn, it might just be the perfect breakfast spot before a merit-making temple visit.

If you're in Thonburi and looking for a spot to brighten up your morning, check out Praline Dining Room. Even though it mainly serves all-day dining, you shouldn’t miss their breakfast menu from 8am-4pm. This place was born from the two sisters who trained as chefs in London and Paris, inspiring a menu of European delight. Go for chubby boy breakfast (thick-cut maple glazed smoked bacon, scramble, house-made croffle, B330) or big mama breakfast (roasted pork sausage, bacon, sauteed mushroom, milk toast, butter and homemade jam, B395). And although breakfast doesn’t technically need dessert, their fluffy buttermilk pancakes (B210) or homemade brioche French toast (B230) are too sweet to decline.

170 Phran Nok Phutthamonthon Sai 4 Rd, Taling Chan. 085-825-7555. Mon-Thu 8am-9pm, Fri-Sat 8am-10pm, Sun 8am-9pm.
