This annual festival is back in its prime midsummer time slot, after being booted by the NASCAR street race for the past few years, and will feature dozens of vendors and food trucks, plus musical performances. And just like last year, the Taste of Chicago will be preceded by a series of day-long fests throughout the summer (at Albany Park, Pullman Park and Marquette Park) before heading to Grant Park for the three-day main event.

For classical music lovers who enjoy taking in a show set beneath Chicago's skyline, the annual Grant Park Music Festival is perennial favorite summer event. This year's series of classical concerts runs from June 10–August 15 with performances ranging from world premiere works and performances of symphonies by Mozart, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich to an evening of classic Broadway arrangements and the annual Independence Day salute. See the work of more than 100 artists and purchase original photography, paintings, jewelry and more at this two-day fest in Old Town. Food options include fare from local restaurants, and live entertainment from 16 Candles, Rod Tuffcurls, and more will be featured throughout the weekend.

Taking place on the same street occupied by some of Chicago's best-known restaurants, this West Loop fest boasts six blocks of food, drinks and music. You'll find bites from more than a dozen restaurants (on Randolph Street and beyond) as well as two stages packed with performances throughout the day. The Back of the Yards neighborhood knows how to throw a party, shutting down two blocks to make room for carnival rides, games, food vendors and live music. Head down to Ashland Avenue between 45th and 47th Streets if you want to eat local fare, ride on a Ferris wheel and win a gigantic stuffed animal.

Grant Park's Bulter Field hosts one of the biggest art fairs of the summer, with 200 juried artists showcasing paintings, ceramics, jewelry, sculptures and more in tents set up throughout the park. Curious art enthusiasts can make their own masterpieces during live paint-and-sip classes and get henna art, caricatures, personalized poems and more. Plus, kids 12 and under get in for free. The best part? A portion of each ticket sale will benefit non-profit organization WINGS Program, Inc., which provides housing, integrated services, education, and advocacy to end domestic violence

Chicago Dance Month highlights the diversity of the city’s dance scene with four weeks of activations from nearly 35 dance artists and companies across a dozen free events throughout Chicago. The slate includes programming such as dance classes at Navy Pier's Wave Wall Platform on Wednesdays, pop-up performances at the Wave Wall stage on Saturdays, workshops, panels, film screenings and more. 

Started in 2022, this two-day extravaganza returns to Grant Park over Memorial Day weekend. Taking place on a single stage in Grant Park's Hutchinson Field, Sueños will feature headlining sets from Kali Uchis, Fuerza Regida, J Balvin and more. In addition to two days of music, you can try food from some of Chicago's best Latin restaurants, a host of art installations and experiential activations, and a Ferris wheel in the park that you can ride between (or during) sets. 

Beyond Wonderland makes its highly anticipated return to Chicago this summer, taking over the Huntington Bank Pavilion at Northerly Island for its third annual edition. The festival's lineup features a powerhouse of globally renowned selectors including DJ Snake, Tiësto, Zedd and San Holo. Beyond the mainstage, the event continues to champion the electronic community through Insomniac’s Discovery Project—a dedicated initiative for nurturing emerging DJ talent—alongside the heavy-hitting Bassrush Experience.

Chicago Pride Fest brings two days of music, drag, vendors and LGBTQ-friendly event to Northalsted in celebration of Chicago Pride Month. Swing by to catch headlining sets from major chart-topping and local artists, including GAG, Willa Ford and MNEK. Plus, browse arts and crafts from more than 150 vendors and don't miss out on the Proud Pet Parade at noon on Sunday. Once you've had your fill, head to one of the best gay bars in Chicago to keep the party going. 

Local hip-hop blog and music video production house Lyrical Lemonade brings its Summer Smash festival back to SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview for another year, with a lineup includes Lil Uzi Vert, Chief Keef, Skrillex, Playboi Carti and North West's (yes, that North West) Chicagoland debut. If past year's lineups are any indication, the undercard will be filled with rising acts—for those looking for a glimpse of the future of hip-hop, you'll probably see it at the Summer Smash.

Get outside and eat some tacos at this lively Lincoln Park festival, which brings together some of the city's best tortilla-wrapped dishes and drinks made with tequila at Wrightwood Park. General admission includes a sample-sized margarita as well as access to live music from Mike & Joe, Gizzae Reggae, Dancing Queen: An ABBA Salute and more.

Take a stroll around the neighborhood to hear live tunes performed on front porches during this unique music fest hosted in Lakeview and Roscoe Village. Homeowners volunteer their porches to serve as stages, and half of the ticket fees go directly to the artists. There's no better way to spend the weekend than potentially discovering that your neighbor is a killer guitarist. 

Spend enough time basking in the smell of barbecued meat, the twangy strains of country music and the sweltering heat at Windy City Smokeout and you might feel like you've been transported to Texas. The award-winning roster of BBQ pitmasters for this year featuring more than 20 pitmasters from across the country to right in Chicago’s backyard. Making their Smokeout debut is the legendary Terry’s Black Barbecue, ZZQ Texas Craft Barbecue and Tennessee’s own Blake’s at Southern Milling. Chicago pitmasters are returning this year as well, including: Chef Art Smith’s Reunion, Green Street Smoked Meats, Lexington Betty Smokehouse and Smoque BBQ.

For some, Labor Day weekend means cookouts and enjoying some of the final days of summer among family and friends. For others, it means crowding in front of a stage with a bunch of strangers and dancing to the sound of bone-rattling bass drops. North Coast Music Festival brings some of the biggest names in EDM to Bridgeview, Illinois, for three days of beats and pyrotechnics in and around SeatGeek Stadium. The lineup includes big-name acts Fisher, Griz, Gryffin, Illenium and many more. And with multiple stages to explore, you should have no problem finding the house, techno, progressive and trance music that you want to dance to.

Get the summer bod you desire at this two-day festival that bills itself as the “Lollapalooza of Fitness.” Some of Chicago’s best workout studios and instructors (such as solidcore, Ritual Hot Yoga, Rumble, Barry’s and many more) will come together in one location in River North for unparalleled, immersive classes outside. This year’s headliners include Olympic icon Simone Biles, former Chicago Bear Israel Idonije and multiple Peloton instructors.

Northalsted Market Days is one of the largest street festivals in the Midwest, welcoming 100,000 people to the streets of Northalsted (formerly known as Boystown) for an LGBTQ-friendly summer celebration of music, food and dance. Get ready, punk rockers! Riot Fest is returning from September 18-20 with a laundry list of rock, punk, metal and emo artists. It's always one of the biggest music fests of the season thanks to a must-see lineup of both legacy acts and emerging newcomers.

This annual fest and conference celebrating the iconic dance music genre born in Chicago brings a full day of DJ sets to Millennium Park. Acts this year are to-be-announced. Get ready to hunt for some new (and old) treasures! The beloved Randolph Street Market Festival is back with curated, European-style vintage and antique shopping. Browse wares from hundreds of vendors, or grab a cocktail and bite to eat from local restaurants while tapping your toes to live music.

Originally established in the late 1800s, the Maxwell Street Market brought vendors, musicians and cooks to an open-air flea market where shoppers could find just about anything they wanted. The market introduced the Maxwell Street Polish sausage, provided a venue for rising Chicago blues musicians and was immortalized in a scene in The Blues Brothers. These days, the market sets up on Maxwell Street, between South Halsted Street and South Union Avenue on Sundays, where visitors will find vendors hawking their wares, an abundance of delicious Mexican food and occasional performances by local bands and dance troupes. 

Mandala South Asian Performing Arts—a bridge connecting audiences to the vibrant colors and rich traditions of South Asian heritage—returns with the annual Mandala Makers Festival. This multidisciplinary platform, which supports a diverse array of South Asian performing artists, kicked off its season on April 15. Take a stroll down Ravenswood Avenue to see art, pop-ups, activations and more at this local festival centered around the neighborhood's industrial corridor, showcasing more than 80 artists and local venues including Begyle Brewery, Nudgers Studio, Music House Chicago and more. This year—the festival's 24th—swing by the outdoor beer garden for local brews and food trucks, or listen to some live tunes across two stages.

For one weekend each year, Southport Corridor becomes a mecca for taco lovers during the Lakeview Taco Fest. More than 10 restaurants offer their take on the tortilla-wrapped dish, serving delicious fare all weekend. You'll also be able to see Mexican wrestling shows, performances from local bands and kid-friendly activities, plus you can vote in a contest to crown Chicago's best taco.

Send summer off with a bang at this indoor/outdoor music and arts festival in suburban Bridgeview (7337 W 100th Pl, Bridgeview, IL, 60456), which has been held on the last Saturday of the summer since its debut in 2024. The sixth annual ARC Music Festival is scheduled to take over Union Park during Labor Day weekend, celebrating Chicago's house music roots and welcoming an international lineup of dance music artists. Expanding to a four-day sprawl for the first time, the fest features acts including Ben UFO, Honey Dijon, Carl Craig and Hiroko Yamamura. The annual festival, which celebrates art, music and food from across the African diaspora, returns this Labor Day weekend for its 36th edition. Head to Washington Park's Sunken Gardens for music and dance performances, vendors and cultural exhibits, and interactive workshops and family activities. Plus, indulge in African and Diasporan food and drinks.

Head to Taylor Street for an evening of delicious Italian food and entertainment at this four-day street fest. Guests will be able to sample dishes from local restaurants, shop a selection of Italian goods and enjoy live performances.

Feast on potato pancakes, kielbasa, pierogi, blitzes and more at this annual Polish celebration (the largest in the country) during Labor Day weekend. Once you're full, stick around to take in performances from polka bands and tribute acts, play mini golf, shop from local vendors, watch traditional dance groups or try your luck in a casino.
