Following a successful spell as part of Artemis Art's booth display at last year's Art Expo Malaysia, Palembang's Riduan returns for his major exhibition debut in the country. 'Binding and Seperating', besides being the artist's sophomore solo show, marks his first lone foray outside his homeland. The promising artist, who now resides in Yogyakarta and is an active member of the thriving art scene there, presents a collection of his recent works from the past four years in this exhibition.
The bright, vibrant colours that dominate Riduan's acrylic-on-canvas pieces, which see him adopting intricately crafted textures and detailed lines to convey his beliefs and philosophies, are visually arresting. Expect to see ropes, pink and illusions of depth when the Indonesian artist officially announces his arrival on the local art stage this month. Wong Boon Ken
