The Flowering Tree

This Box of Delights presentation is inspired by a South Indian folktale that originated from the Karnataka region and was originally pegged as a feminist piece about women’s sisterhood with nature. This tale of magic and adventure centres on impoverished village girl Pushpika, whose mysterious ability to transform into a flowering tree soon attracts unwanted attention from a smitten prince, a greedy princess and an evil sorcerer.
