It is perhaps fitting that popular Japanese beer brand Kirin Ichiban is named after the Kirin (or, as it’s usually known, the qilin), a mythical hoofed creature in East Asian folklore that symbolises wellbeing, prosperity and happiness. After all, with over 100 years of history in the brewery business, revelry and contentment are usually never far when a glass of Kirin Ichiban is on a table.

The reason the brand has thrived in the market after such a long time is because it has always prided itself on its premium quality beer, which is made 100 percent from malt, hops and water, and is extracted from the innovative ‘First Press’ brewing method, ensuring that only the purest, most flavourful portion is used, giving it a crisper, richer taste. This brewing technique forms the basis of the Kirin Ichiban experience, which is about enjoying the first experiences in life and sharing moments of joy with family and friends. The perfect companion to any meal, the brand’s philosophy is shaped by the fundamentals of Japanese cuisine, which is to bring the most flavourful elements out from the best ingredients. This has provided the beer with its signature richness, which perfectly accompanies both Asian and European cuisines.

Kirin Ichiban

As a result of this commitment to live up to the origins of its name, as well as to deliver on the Kirin Ichiban Experience, the brand has gone to great lengths to ensure that it always delivers only the most premium quality beer and is synonymous with Japanese drinking culture over the years. And nothing symbolises this philosophy of the brand more than the popular Kirin Ichiban Garden in Tokyo. Popular among beer enthusiasts in Japan, the Kirin Ichiban Garden offers revelers a chance to learn more about how the beer is produced (particularly its unique ‘First Press’ process), see how the malt and hops are processed to create Kirin Ichiban’s signature taste, watch movie clips about the brand and its brewing techniques, and of course to sample the now-famous array of signature flavored frozen beers on offer. The Kirin Ichiban Frozen Beer was designed to help thirsty Japanese people to stave off the heat of summer. It’s a delectable concoction of popping beer, topped with a swirl of frosted foam.

Local beer enthusiasts will not need to splurge on a flight just to have this signature experience because from a limited time between October 1-10, brand distributors Guinness Anchor Berhad (GAB) is proud to present Malaysia’s first Kirin Ichiban Beer Garden at The Square, Publika. Given that many Malaysian consumers have been curious about the Kirin Ichiban experience (and of course to finally satisfy their curiosity of the Kirin Ichiban Frozen Beer), the brand aims to bring this signature experience right to their doorstep as a reward for their faithfulness to the brand.

Like the Tokyo version, revelers will get to learn about the brewing process of Japan’s Number 1 100 percent malt ‘First Press’ beer. On top of that, just to enhance the customers’ experience at the Garden, they will be offered a chance to pour themselves their very own Frozen Beer. Local beer enthusiasts will also have a chance to sample a taste of what authentic Japanese drinking culture is really like. It is an experience that is surely not to be missed for beer enthusiasts, and especially for fans of Kirin Ichiban beer, ‘We wanted to bring the Kirin Ichiban experience to Malaysia, without compromising its Japanese touch and authenticity,’ said James Kim, Innovation Manager of GAB. If frozen beers are not your thing, the Garden will also offer the original (and purest) Kirin Ichiban Draught.

So if you’ve been curious about the famous Kirin Ichiban Garden in Tokyo or are just simply dying to try a glass of frozen beer in our scorching weather, head on to The Square in Publika and dive into an unforgettable beer-drinking experience.
