If you're brimming with ideas for a book and eager to bask in the glory of seeing your published work in bookstores (and who knows, maybe win an award or two with all the recognition you'll get), keep close tabs on 'Page to Pitch (P2P) Media 360', said to be the world's first publishing-to-media pitching competition.

There are two categories: ‘Idea to Publishing’ for those looking to publish their ideas, and ‘Book to Development’ for existing writers to adapt their published work into different media.

In the 'Idea to Publishing' category, fresh writers will get the chance to have their ideas published into a book by Karangkraf (worth up to RM50,000), a RM5,000 grand prize from Kota Buku and an international marketing opportunity with your newly-published work.

Meanwhile, established writers with an existing published book can join the 'Book to Development' category, and if you come out tops, your published text will see new life as diverse digital media content such as a feature film, TV series, animation, web comic, game or app. The winner will receive a green lane for their application in the FINAS development grant worth up to RM500,000, RM5,000 grand prize from Kota Buku, and an international marketing opportunity.

Now that you know the rewards you’ll reap, get familiar with the rules and regulations (plenty of helpful guidelines there) and fill in the forms for your chosen category (‘Idea to Publishing’ or ‘Book to Development’). Submit your work and completed registration form via email to p2p360@kotabuku.my by April 22. Shortlisted entries will be invited to pitch their ideas in front of a panel of local and international industry experts on May 7 and May 8 during the ninth edition of Kuala Lumpur Trade & Copyright Centre 2016 at MAEPS, Serdang.
