Have it the good old-fashioned way – with ice cream
We like how it’s done at Fatbaby, Inside Scoop and Ice Dreams Café (IDC). If you like New Zealand’s Kapiti ice cream, IDC uses exclusively that. But if you want locally-made ice cream, then Fatbaby and Inside Scoop are where you should head to. If you’re into Korean kitsch then go to Aboong – the waffle is carp-shaped with red bean filling and stuffed with a swirl of frozen yoghurt.

For getting your flatlay priorities sorted, we like New Chapter’s elaborately decorated ice cream waffles (they also have waffle chips!). You can also try New Chapter's older sister The Owls Café in Bukit Jalil, which serves pretty much the same stuff. Waffle deal alert: Madame Waffle in Mid Valley has a buy-one-free-one promotion for waffle with gelato – good for a post-movie treat. Finally, for waffles with a hint of nostalgia, there's always A&W. Plus point: The PJ drive-in outlet is open 24 hours.

Savoury waffles
Have waffles the savoury way, ideally with fried chicken like how it’s done at Analog (so you can say you had somewhat of a 'balanced' meal). Sidenote: Analog is closed on Fridays but hey, all the more reason to extend Waffle Day and make it a Waffle Weekend. Alternatively, Chequers in TTDI has waffle burgers and sandwiches – some of which are served with a scoop of ice cream on the side, if that’s how you roll. And at Plan B, Hari Raya comes early with a rendang-stuffed waffle, maybe your nenek will approve.
