Five things we learned from watching MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015

MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 saw headliners Jason Derulo, Carly Rae Jepsen, Apink, Sekai No Owari and Stacy perform at Sunway Surf Beach last Saturday, with nearly 20,000 people at the event. Here are the highlights:

1. The haze didn't stop people from braving smog and poor visibility to see the international acts. Good to know we breathed the same (polluted) air as Carly Rae Jepsen and Jason Derulo for a few hours, eh?

2. Seeing Sekai No Owari live can be slightly unsettling to a non-fan. DJ Love sports a creepy smiling clown mask that seems more fitting for a horror house, but that didn't distract from their ethereal music of course.

3. It's nice to know Apink were happy to perform in Malaysia for us (they only mentioned it like three times in their cutesy, little-girl voices)

4. Singing 'I really, really, really, really, really, really like you' in a sea of 20,000 people is an experience.

5. Wild dancing is a given at any party, but a certain concert-goer wins all the awards for his dance moves which mainly involved thrashing about, arms flailing wildly, and bumping into other annoyed concert-goers during Jason Derulo's 'Want To Want Me'. We want to want your hands out of our face, please.
