If you're used to paying 20sen for plastic bags during Saturday grocery shopping, it's time to get yourself a sturdy reusable or cloth bag instead.

According to a report by The Star, Selangor will extend the current No Plastic Bag Day on Saturdays to seven days a week and will also ban the use of polystyrene containers starting January next year. We say start looking for a reliable container to store your food the next time you tapau.

To get the green movement going (and get the rest of us hyped on earning our eco badge too), Green Technology and Environment committee chairman Elizabeth Wong said all official events and buildings of the Selangor state government would stop using plastic bags and polystyrene by next month.

If you're wondering which local councils have passed these by-laws, take note Shah Alam, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya and Sepang folks: you're the first to start this new environmentally-friendly phase.
