Things to do this Easter Sunday

Whether you observe Easter Sunday as a religious holiday or as an excuse to gorge on chocolate bunnies and take part in egg hunts, make the most of Easter weekend at these family-friendly events in town, plus a few brunches.

Things to do
This is where Easter gets fun (eggs-citing, if you will). For your dose of independent brands, BSC's Seek & Keep bazaar returns this weekend with an Easter theme – which means that you get to shop while the kids get busy with bunny- and egg-related activities (win-win for all). Alternatively, if you're looking for something to do after your family brunch on Jalan Telawi, Bangsar Village will host an egg hunt for kids alongside a hot cross buns sale by Nutmeg. In the city centre, your kids can escape the heat at Avenue K's pop-up ice rink. As part of the mall's Easter celebrations on Sunday, pay RM50 and kids get unlimited ice skating from 1pm to 5pm, as well as a manicure and free chocolate eggs, candies and other Easter treats. Also, if you spend RM80 and above at participating stores, you can sign up your kids for the rooftop egg hunt. Meanwhile, if you're a sucker for Sylvanian Families, Pavilion KL's Tokyo Street will have the cute toy collection on display with special giveaways and appearances by Sylvanian Families mascots Chocolate Rabbit Girl and Walnut Squirrel Brother. On Sunday, get your kids to take part in the Easter Egg-mazing Race (11am-1pm) for a chance to win prizes by Sylvanian Families.

Easter brunches
Serena Brasserie's Easter brunch features a selection of fresh seafood, and for something warm and comforting, go for apricot-thyme rabbit stew from the live cooking station. Restless kids can look forward to the children's cinema set up on-site, a candy station, and egg-painting and the customary egg hunt. On the other side of town, Cinnamon Coffee House at One World Hotel offers favourites like deviled eggs, hot cross buns, chicken chowder soup and honey roasted lamb while kids can take part in various activities. If a bubbly brunch is what you're after, Drift Dining's four-hour Easter bubbly brunch is heavy on cured meats and seafood as well as egg and bacon muffins, crispy pork belly with fennel, lemon tarts and more. For something fancier, Shook!'s famed Mad Hatter brunch returns with an Easter theme on Sunday with free flow of Moet & Chandon and a buffet spread comprising Japanese, Chinese, Southeast Asian and Western cuisines. Huckleberry Food & Fare

Where to get hot cross buns
Sometimes, all you want are hot cross buns this Easter (and not any old cross-topped raisin bun). We like the soft, freshly-baked hot cross buns by Ben's Independent Grocer – on sale this Saturday and Sunday at its Plaza Batai and Publika outlets. If you're in Damansara Kim, head to The Kitchen Table Restaurant & Bakery for their hot cross buns with five-spice cream cheese frosting and pineapple chunks. Alternatively, Huckleberry Food & Fare is currently selling sourdough hot cross buns loaded with dried cranberries, raisins, ginger and orange peel, so if you prefer yours with more fruit and fragrant spices, head to Huckleberry in Bukit Damansara or its kiosk at Jason's Food Hall at BSC. Hot cross buns will be available until Sunday.
