This mid-autumn, InterContinental Kuala Lumpur goes luxe with a mooncake and whisky pairing menu. The three-item menu starts on a light note with the scarlet baked snowskin with pandan mooncake paired with a shot of Glen Garioch (pronounced as ‘glen gee-ree’) Founders Reserve (RM46nett per pairing). While the whisky enhances the pandan flavours, the creamy crust of the scarlet baked snowskin mellows the sharp taste of the whisky as well.
Next, white lotus paste mooncake is paired with Glen Garioch 12 Years (RM59nett per pairing), from the single malt distillery in eastern Scotland.
Last is red bean mooncake with the Auchentoshan Three Wood (RM59nett per pairing). Matured in three types of casks (bourbon, Pedro Ximénez sherry and Oloroso sherry), the Auchentoshan is a smooth, clean drink that balances the heavier flavours of red bean mooncakes.
