If you love KL and you love Kyoto Protocol, here are some quick-fire talking points about Kyoto Protocol’s 'KL I Sayang You': It’s the five-piece’s second original Malay song translated from 'KL I Love You' (taken off last year’s debut LP 'Catch These Men'), and 'seeing as Fuad (the frontman) is still generally bad at the Malay language' (their words, not ours), they roped in Myo of Oh Chentaku to help with the English-to-Malay transition.

Directed by the team at Luey Motion Lab, the video is evocative of everything we love and hate about KL: the bumper-to-bumper traffic, the fun of playing the 'not-sure-if-empty-parking-spot-or-just-another-Kelisa' game, the 'You ingat jalan ni bapak you punya?' exchanges. It’s not all road-related, of course; the song itself is a love letter and lamentation of sorts to the city: ‘Kerja siang malam / dulu janji balik enam petang? … Diskaun di sana sini / realiti hutang berguni.

Score bonus points in the KL rat race if you happen to be wearing a Pestle & Mortar T-shirt while watching the video.
