DNB XTRA with Makoto

The latest episode of the DNB XTRA series features returning Tokyo-based DJ Makoto Shimizu, more popularly known as ‘Makoto’. It will be a night of fast break beats and heavy lines, and spun into the sounds are threads of his early music influences, ranging from classical to funk and soul. It was during his university days completing a major in Acoustic Engineering that Makoto began experimenting with the electronic genres, especially drum ‘n’ bass. His productions later caught the attention of LTJ Bukem, and since he signed on with Good Looking Records, the Japanese DJ has wasted no time building his discography, releasing two LPs, a Live DJ Mix, multiple EPs and more than a few tracks on the ‘Earth’ and ‘Progression Sessions’ compilation albums. Today, besides showcasing the diversity of his sounds, Makoto focuses on drawing attention to up-and-coming producers from his country through his own label, HE:Digital. DJ Low and Nesh MC will be the supporting acts for the night.
