DiverseCity: Rex Navarrete

If it weren't for Eddie Murphy's classic album 'Comedian' and Rex Navarette's professor's insistence on giving stand-up comedy a go, we wouldn't have the Filipino-American comedian on stage today. Rex did his first routine as a 19-year-old in 1989 at the Asian Pacific Islander Student Union conference at UC Santa Cruz, and after that comedy taster, he's embarked on a career that sees him touring all over North America doing his one-man show. He performs regularly in Manila, inspiring the growing stand-up comedy scene there.
