If you’re familiar with the comforting contents of Wiya Chicken Rice in Kota Kinabalu, Red Rooster arrives as good news. The son of Wiya now owns Red Rooster, a Hainan chicken rice shop that takes exactly the same recipes as those used in Wiya. The rice here is packed in pyramid-shaped moulds before it’s turned over onto a plate alongside a platter of smooth steamed chicken bathed in sesame oil. Roast chicken, char siew and siew yoke are also available.
