Much like its siblings Sitka and Studio, Alta pushes the culinary envelope in a café setting; this one brings a notably European, day-to-night experience to a neighbourhood already spoiled for choice.
For breakfast, influenced by the cafés of Cophenhagen, Paris and Rome, the cuisine is made from scratch, locally sourced (where possible), and focuses on simple pleasures: cheese, eggs, toast, all elevated. Order the crowd fave: fresh stracciatella cheese with nuts and nibs, finished with drizzles of honey and olive oil. Omelette is served with house-made crème fraîche and smoked trout roe. There’s a dish that riffs on a St. JOHN classic: gently simmered beef mince ladled over crunchy toast, topped with a sunny side up, and plated with gorgeous fresh greens. Plus, coffees, teas and juices, of course.
