Note: École P is now closed.
‘École’ is French for school, appropriate considering the café’s blatant theme: sekolah rendah. The open-air patio features a giant chalkboard on which scrawling of math problems and juvenile ‘I don’t friend you’ sentiments are doodled. Our favourite bit are the wooden school tables, blemished with the pencil leads and (are you prepared for it?) liquid paper. The tables come equipped with a flask (for water) and colourful backpacks; zip open your backpack for a metal pencil box filled with cutlery. Meanwhile, the menu is a brown-skinned buku latihan whose pages are filled with the dreaded blue lines. The chicken chop with mash is a standout – chicken breaded with crushed fish-shaped biscuits served next to appleslaw.
