Time Out says
Spend a chill afternoon taste-testing mountains of gourmet Japanese ices at Kakigōri, a shaved ice dessert bar at Taman Paramount. Set up like an ice factory with a skylight and a garden structure, Kakigōri has a cool interior that matches the selection of ices. For now, they’re churning out ten varieties of kakigōri, all made with specially produced ice (with a higher density for finer shavings), up to three layers of homemade syrups and purées as well as unique additions such as rose espuma, Marukyu-Koyamaen matcha from Kyoto, ginger syrup made with Bentong ginger and more.
Masterminded by Thirdwave’s Beh siblings (who went on a research trip to Tokyo and ate their way through nearly 40 bowls of kakigōri), Kakigōri uses only natural ingredients to recreate Japan’s traditional summer dessert. Traditionalists can go for Japanese flavours such as uji matcha, hojicha and Japanese pumpkin with burnt caramel, but we say try the more creative options such as guava, shoyu and ginger tofu. Seasonal ices (kuih-inspired ices, anyone?) are in the works.
