Make it a barbecue-heavy festive feast this month at Shangri-La Hotel's Lemon Garden Cafe. Have juicy US oysters, chicken wings, Siamese-style freshwater prawns, fish harra or ayam golek, all grilled over flames. Highlights include a roasted whole lamb, either spiced and served with nasi biryani or with potatoes. After the barbecue, tuck into Malay dishes such as ikan singgang pedas dengan keladi, kambing masak kuzi, daging batang pinang masak hitam, gulai itik serati and the essential bubur lambuk. There will also be ekor asam pedas, laksa utara and festive lemang pulut and ketupat palas with beef, chicken or fish serunding.
