For something a little fancier than your usual slice of cake and coffee, have the pretty desserts at Cheras’s Pretty On Plate. Take your pick from an extensive selection of cheese cakes, macarons, tarts and more.
But the focus here is their signature plated desserts (only available after 6pm). Think elegant sweet treats such as chocolate fondant with berries, raspberry sorbet and anglaise sauce, or key lime tart with graham crackers, coconut cremeux and coconut sorbet. If you can't stomach that much sugar, the less-sweet banana mousse with peanut butter moss, caramelised bananas and yoghurt ice cream should do the trick. In the afternoon, order the dessert sampler (available all day) that comes with eight small portions of the menu’s top picks.
Another highlight is the brioches with fillings the likes of peanut butter, vanilla custard and chocolate, topped with a scoop of ice cream or sorbet in various flavours. The fillings come in syringes, which you use to fill your own brioche. We say go syringe-happy and inject the brioche to the brim with vanilla custard. There are also a few savoury food items such as sandwiches and lasagna. Wash the treats down with Pretty On Plate's own cold-pressed juice or a cup of coffee.
