Sae Ma Eul is about as authentic a Korean barbecue as you can get off of the Korean peninsula. A cult favourite tucked away at a corner lot at Solaris Mont Kiara — with stainless steel tables and stools spilling out to the streets, hawker-style — it’s no-frills and old-school; you’ll find no gas cookers here, instead grilling rosy-red slabs atop hissing hot coals. It serves up not only pork cuts of belly, ribs, shoulder, skirt and even skin, but also Angus sirloin and beef ribs, chicken, duck and lamb. The baby octopus and the choirutan jumeokbap (spicy rice balls) are standouts here.
