Oliver Gourmet is the Klang Valley’s latest premium grocers that combines drinking, dining and grocery shopping in one place. While there’s plenty to shop for within its 12,000 square feet space, the main attractions are its wine section that stocks over 1,500 wine labels, and a dedicated jamón counter that brings in cured ham supplied by Spain’s Cinco Jotas. There is also a coffee bar, a bakery and a cook-on-demand non-halal section where you can have pork chops, sausages and pasta Bolognese together with wine bought from the adjacent section.
If you've got money to spend, try out the jamón de bellota – dry-cured ham sourced from free-range acorn-fed Iberian pigs. These almost-translucent slices are the top of the range when it comes to jamón (of all commercially raised Iberico pigs, only five percent are both pure breed and acorn-fed) and tastes intensely sweet, floral and nutty as the fat melts in your mouth. Be prepared to fork out a fair bit though, as a 100g packet can set you back about RM180.
