NH by Nurita Harith

NH by Nurita Harith

Nurita Harith’s ready-to-wear Raya capsule collection – available exclusively at FashionValet – is full of fluid, flowing shapes in soft silk. She reimagines and reconstructs traditional costumers into classic, wearable clothes with a mix-and-match versatility that can be worn not only for Raya, but beyond the festivities. A few choice favourites: the billowy, romantic blouson top in dusty pink; and the Edie, a two-piece baju kurung cut close to the body, featuring a floral print in soft blue.

Anaabu

Anaabu

Anaabu’s Eid collection is for the minimalists in all Malaysians: 15 ever-practical, modern designs in basic, earthy palettes of blues, grays and whites, to make up five looks for women and three for unisex wear. Shop the Aka skirt – we love the side splits – and the baju kurung-like Aoi dress, which features a back keyhole neck and high-slit.

Afiq M

Afiq M

It’s a fashion feast for the eyes. Afiq Mohamed, one of KL’s brightest, up-and-coming designers, has taken his cues from the simpler spirits of Rayas past. His collection is one of classic silhouettes and shapes of Raya, elevated with flares, nips and the purity of monochromatic colours – mahogany reds, plum purples and whites, specifically.

Rizalman

Rizalman

In a season when much ado has been made about all things pretty and pastoral, Rizalman stands out as a shining example of doing the opposite with the expansive, aptly-titled ‘The Marmar Collection’. This time, for the designer’s last Raya collection for Zalora, he scales back somewhat on his signature form-fitting designs – and instead pulls out all the stops with dizzying, swirly prints, monochromatic marble patterns, and even peplum baju kurungs. Fret not, there are also matching designs for men in baju Melayu, kurta and jubah designs.

S Baharim

S Baharim

The Syaiful Baharim woman is elegant, graceful, poised. She wears minimally-designed fabrics in hues of soft pastels, but she suprises with dramatic details: flared sleeves, ruffled hemlines, a scarf collar. She mixes lace with modern bijoux beadwork; fine silk with linens; Peranakan embroidery on Malay songket.

Alia B

Alia B

Alia Bastamam rolls out a Raya ready-to-wear collection – under her diffusion label Alia B – and the result, of course, is one of exquisite elegance: flowing fabric, lavish lacework, all awash in soft spring colours of coral, light taupe and sky blue.

Available in-store at FashionValet and online at www.fashionvalet.com; www.aliabastamam.com; from RM459 to RM569.

Poplook Premium

Poplook Premium

Stand out this season with Poplook’s killer combinations. Think floral lace paired with a gold skirt; wide flare sleeves in an Eastern-influenced kimono wrap of semi sheer organza; sequined sleeves in a brocade peplum design; and many more.

Innai Red

Innai Red

Beadwork, flower appliqué, sequins – Innai is splashing out this season. The pieces, really, are more eveningwear than baju kurung, with crystals trimming necklines, sleeves and fitted waists; glamourous gathers and ruching; and strong structures: spot the mermaid splits, ruffled peplums and voluminous puffy sleeves. Alternatively, for something a little simpler – and a lot easier on the purse – look to Innai’s Raya collection for FashionValet.

Pikat KL

Pikat KL

Pikat KL upgrades the form-meets-function formula to boiling-point desirability, finding cross-references between that of dainty, delicate Raya outfits and the daily dressing needs of the everyday woman. The result is a succinct collection in nudes, pinks and greys, as well as bold reds and royal purples. What we really like are the details: frills draped across relaxed tops, and high V-neck collars with silhouettes tied at the waist.

Mimpikita

Mimpikita

Malaysian fashion house Mimpikita has two collections rolling out for Raya. There’s the bespoke, made-to-measure Lebaran collection (pictured), which is an ever-glamorous play on proportions, and then there’s the ready-to-wear collection for FashionValet, which taps into the colourful culture of the Peranakan, featuring floral illustrations against solid shades.

Available from FashionValet and Mimpikita.
