[title]The Volkswagen Beetle is an iconic car recognised the world over. It was first rolled out in 1945, and the classic Bug (as it’s also sometimes known) has since been redesigned and revamped. But throughout its various incarnations, its distinctive round shape remained and helped it become the icon it is today. Sadly, 2019 marks the end of the production of this beloved model.
To give the Bug the send-off it deserves, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia (VPCM) is organising a farewell party this July 13 at the Palace of Justice in Putrajaya – Beetle, An Iconic Gathering.
Celebrations will begin with a Beetle Sunshine Tour convoy with 150 Beetles, flagged off in the heart of KL and driving through the Golden Triangle before making its way to Putrajaya. Volkswagen is also planning to break the Malaysian record of the most Beetles in one location, so owners of classic and current Beetles are encouraged to join in on this record-breaking event. Interested owners can register their cars on the Volkswagen website, and participants will receive a certificate of participation.
The Gathering is an opportunity for all Beetle fans to get together with like-minded aficionados and admire and appreciate the various incarnations of the Beetle that have been produced throughout the years.
Beetle, An Iconic Gathering will be held on Jul 13 at the open-air carpark behind Palace of Justice, Jalan Permodenan, Putrajaya, 11am-2pm (official count at 3pm). Free admission. For more information and to register to participate, check the Volkswagen website.
