Commune is where creative minds can gather and work together in a space that was designed with the idea of a supportive community in mind. The cosy atmosphere is accented by greenery and comfy beanbags, while free WiFi, plug points and expansive areas offer the ideal co-working environment. Commune also functions as a public platform – where the efforts of local artisans are recognised, promoted and nurtured through events and activities – as well as a suitable venue for CSR initiatives.

The year 2019 sees an exciting range of happenings lined up at Commune, and it kicks off with grand Chinese New Year activities. The lively Artisan Food Bazaar by Kravve (Jan 12-13, 12noon-9pm) is held just in time before the festivities, and is where the typically tedious chore of CNY shopping becomes a fun activity the whole family can participate in. This community weekend market will see plenty of vendors offering handmade CNY snacks, ranging from traditional and modern cookies to natural fruit jams and spreads. There will also be gift hampers, and activities like making ang pows and interactive lessons about CNY customs to keep the kids occupied while parents get shopping done.
The fun doesn’t stop when the festivities are done. Kravve – known for their marketplace of healthy and natural groceries as well as artisanal food and snacks – will be hosting a market every second weekend of the month throughout the year. They will curate a different selection of items each month with different themes and activities, making for a new experience each time.
Another Chinese New Year activity to look forward to is the Cardboard Country’s Chinese New Year Special Workshops (Jan 26-27). Participants will learn the art of interesting crafts like Chinese knotting, Chinese paper-cut works, calligraphy and more. Bring the family and take advantage of the photo ops with the special CNY decorations at the Common Space from Jan 25-Feb 8.
Sunway Velocity Mall is celebrating Chinese New Year this 2019 with A Cantonese Heritage Celebration (Jan 5-Feb 19). The Main Atrium will be transformed into a grand Cantonese Courtyard complete with traditional Cantonese architecture and cultural fittings. Throughout the festivities, there will be kids workshops, lion dances, performances, meet-and-greets with the God of Prosperity and more.
