ILHAM's Public Lecture series puts the spotlight on renowned art historians, scholars and researchers in collaboration with the Visual Art Program, Cultural Centre, University of Malaya as part of their aim to promote a greater understanding of modern and contemporary art.
This edition features Goenawan Mohamad, renowned poet, essayist and playwright. His lecture will take a comparitive approach, exploring the concept of modernism and how our understanding of it has been informed by the works of Sutan Takdir Alihsjahbana and Latiff Mohidin, two prolific cultural figures, both of Minangkabau descent born a generation apart.
